After the operation

The Abe Lenstra Stadium where the Heerenveen ZBC Clinic is located.
What to expect following surgery?
Following surgery, you will be fitted with a custom corset. The corset provides support to your back when sitting, driving, standing and walking in the first two to four weeks, according to individual need.
You can have somebody else drive you home. Incline the passenger's seat backrest to about 45 degrees. Every half hour of the journey, pause briefly to walk about. On request, Spineclinic Iprenburg can arrange an overnight stay (pre- and/or post-operation) at a discount in Hotel Tjaarda in Oranjewoud. This Golden Tulip Hotel is located just a few kilometres from the Abe Lenstra Stadium.
Two post-operative telephone consultations will be scheduled: one day after, and two weeks after the operation. You will also then be advised on what activities are safe, or better avoided after the operation.
Six weeks after surgery, another consultation will take place at Spineclinic Iprenburg. It is essential for you to start with physiotherapy around two weeks after surgery. Your physiotherapist will arrange a detailed programme for you. You can resume office work just a week after surgery. For the first six weeks, it pays to be cautious when it comes to heavier work. You need to build that up slowly.
